Write a four-question FAQ for a price change
- For Customer support teams
- You practice Keeping the AI to your sources
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Intermediate
About this exercise
Write a customer FAQ with exactly 4 questions in this order: What changes? When? Does it affect annual customers? Does it affect the Free plan? Format each as "Q:" then "A:" on the next line, answers under 25 words with exact numbers. Plain text. Use only the Nov 1 notice.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Using the old draft. The old FAQ says Dec 1 and that the Free plan ends. Try: Say: "Use only the Nov 1 notice."
- Missing numbers. The AI says 'prices are going up' without amounts. Try: Say: "Include the old and new prices and the date."
- Wrong order or layout. The AI reorders questions or adds headings. Try: Give the four questions in order with Q: and A: lines.
- Getting markdown back. AI adds bold and headings by default, which show up as stray symbols where this is pasted. Try: Say "plain text, no bold, no headings, no asterisks".
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and usually runs long, so a vague "keep it short" lands well over the limit. Try: Cap each part instead of the total, for example "each line under 15 words".
What a strong prompt includes
- Asks for plain text
- Sets a length limit
- Lists the questions
- Uses only the notice
