Build a role-play card for new agents with a hidden fact
- For Learning and development
- You practice Asking for a format you can use
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Intermediate
About this exercise
Write a role-play card with exactly five lines starting "Persona:", "Situation:", "Hidden fact:", "Agent should:" and "Success looks like:". The hidden fact is the real reason for the delay, taken from the material. The card must not invent any compensation. Plain text, under 150 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Inventing compensation. The AI adds a coupon or refund to make it nice. Try: Say: "No compensation is offered for customs holds."
- Missing the hidden fact. The AI invents a different cause like a warehouse delay. Try: Say: "Use the real reason from the material as the hidden fact."
- Wrong card shape. The AI writes a story. Try: Name the five labels.
- Getting markdown back. AI adds bold and headings by default, which show up as stray symbols where this is pasted. Try: Say "plain text, no bold, no headings, no asterisks".
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and usually runs long, so a vague "keep it short" lands well over the limit. Try: Cap each part instead of the total, for example "each line under 15 words".
What a strong prompt includes
- Names the five labels
- Says to take the cause from the material
- Bans invented compensation
- Asks for plain text
- Sets a length limit
