Check four cancelling customers against save-offer conditions
- For Customer support teams
- You practice Setting limits and rules
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Advanced
About this exercise
Output a table with the header "Customer | Eligible? | Failed condition" and four rows, then a last line "Offer 20% to: C#, C#" (or "Offer 20% to: none"). A customer is eligible only if all three conditions are met. Failed condition lists the first failed condition by its letter, or "none". Plain text, under 70 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Treating any complaint about money as price. The AI marks C4 eligible or C3 ineligible. Try: Say: "Condition A: the stated reason is price."
- Missing the 12-month check. The AI forgets the June offer for C2. Try: Say: "Check all three conditions per customer."
- Wrong output format. The AI writes advice paragraphs. Try: Give the header and the last-line format.
- Getting markdown back. AI adds bold and headings by default, which show up as stray symbols where this is pasted. Try: Say "plain text, no bold, no headings, no asterisks".
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and usually runs long, so a vague "keep it short" lands well over the limit. Try: Cap each part instead of the total, for example "each line under 15 words".
What a strong prompt includes
- Gives the header
- States the all-conditions rule
- Asks for the first failed letter
- Asks for plain text
- Sets a length limit
