Rewrite a reply in simple English without idioms
- For Customer support teams
- You practice Saying who it's for
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Beginner
About this exercise
Rewrite the draft for Mei, who is learning English. Plain text, at most 4 sentences, each under 14 words. First line exactly "Hello Mei," and last line exactly "Rosa, Support". Keep the facts. Do not use idioms such as touch base, dust settles, ballpark or hit us up.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Keeping the idioms. The draft is full of idioms and the AI keeps most of them. Try: Say: "No idioms; plain, literal words."
- Dropping a fact. The AI shortens so much that the date or the workaround is lost. Try: Say: "Keep the outage, the Nov 13 date and the phone app workaround."
- Wrong open and close. The AI writes 'Hi Mei' and 'Cheers'. Try: Give the exact first and last lines.
- Getting markdown back. AI adds bold and headings by default, which show up as stray symbols where this is pasted. Try: Say "plain text, no bold, no headings, no asterisks".
- Letting the sentences run on. The AI writes as many sentences as it likes. Try: Name the cap: "at most N sentences".
