Text an appointment confirmation with an opt-out line
- For Small business owners
- You practice Setting limits and rules
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Beginner
About this exercise
Write one SMS for Priya. It must start with "Glow Studio:", give the current day, date and time, ask her to reply C to confirm, and end with "Reply STOP to opt out." Plain text, under 30 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Using the old booking. The AI uses the original Nov 9 time. Try: Say: "Use the rescheduled time: Tue Nov 10, 2:30 p.m."
- Missing the opener or closer. The AI writes its own greeting and sign-off. Try: Give the exact first and last words.
- Forgetting the confirm instruction. The AI just states the time. Try: Say: "Ask her to reply C to confirm."
- Getting markdown back. AI adds bold and headings by default, which show up as stray symbols where this is pasted. Try: Say "plain text, no bold, no headings, no asterisks".
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and usually runs long, so a vague "keep it short" lands well over the limit. Try: Cap each part instead of the total, for example "each line under 15 words".
What a strong prompt includes
- Gives the opening and closing words
- Gives the current time
- Asks for a confirm reply
- Asks for plain text
- Sets a length limit
