Write a win-back email with real updates and no pressure
- For Small business owners
- You practice Getting the tone right
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Beginner
About this exercise
Write an email to Nia, a lapsed subscriber. First line exactly "Subject: What's new at Pagewise". Mention exactly two product updates from the list and the offer with its real end date. Do not use pressure words such as "last chance", "hurry" or "don't miss out". End with the line "Omar at Pagewise". Plain text, under 70 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Using pressure language. The AI copies the retired template. Try: Say: "No fake urgency: no last chance, hurry or deletion threats."
- Listing every update. The AI mentions all four updates. Try: Say: "Exactly two updates."
- Misstating the offer. The AI forgets the real end date. Try: Say: "State $3 for the first month until Dec 15."
- Getting markdown back. AI adds bold and headings by default, which show up as stray symbols where this is pasted. Try: Say "plain text, no bold, no headings, no asterisks".
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and usually runs long, so a vague "keep it short" lands well over the limit. Try: Cap each part instead of the total, for example "each line under 15 words".
What a strong prompt includes
- Quotes the subject and sign-off
- Limits updates and states the offer
- Bans pressure words
- Asks for plain text
- Sets a length limit
