Write the CEO's annual priorities letter for staff
- For Executives
- You practice Saying who it's for
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Intermediate
About this exercise
Write the CEO's letter to staff in plain text, under 130 words, with exactly this shape: first line "Team,"; then the line "Our three priorities:" followed by exactly 3 dash bullets (priority, then a dash, then its first milestone with date); then the line "What this means for you:" followed by one sentence; and the last line "Marta". Use only the notes and leave out anything marked draft.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Including draft items. The AI mentions the Leeds depot. Try: Say: "Leave out anything marked draft."
- No dates. The AI says "later this year". Try: Say: "Each bullet ends with its first milestone and date."
- Wrong shape. The AI adds headings or a longer closing. Try: Say: "Exactly this shape: Team, the labels, three bullets, one sentence, Marta."
- Exclamation marks and hype. The AI adds an upbeat tone. Try: Say: "No exclamation marks."
- Markdown. The AI bolds the labels. Try: Say: "Plain text."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each part instead, for example: "each line under 15 words."
