About this exercise

Rank the top three risks for the audit committee. Score is likelihood times impact (each 1 to 5), using the latest scores in the register. Break ties by higher impact. Output a table with the header Rank | Risk | Score | Owner and exactly three rows, with the working in the Score column like "4 x 5 = 20". Add a last line: Scores are management estimates for committee review. Plain text, under 80 words.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Using the printed scores. The AI ranks supplier failure first using L3 I5. Try: Say: "Use the latest scores in the register updates."
  • Trusting hearsay. The AI changes R3 to likelihood 4. Try: Say: "Use only recorded scores, not what someone says."
  • No working shown. The AI shows only the total. Try: Say: "Show the working like 4 x 5 = 20."
  • Wrong table. The AI adds columns. Try: Say: "Header Rank | Risk | Score | Owner, three rows."
  • Missing closing line. The AI adds commentary. Try: Say: "End with the exact line."
  • Markdown. The AI uses bold. Try: Say: "Plain text."
  • Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each part instead, for example: "each line under 15 words."

What a strong prompt includes
