Brief an executive on a customer escalation with a dated timeline
- For Consultants
- You practice Setting limits and rules
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Intermediate
About this exercise
Brief your executive on a customer escalation in plain text, under 150 words. Sections on their own lines: Situation, Timeline, Ask. Timeline has exactly 4 lines in date order, each starting with the date. Use only dates and facts in the notes and the latest information. Situation is one sentence. Ask is what the customer wants, not what you recommend.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Using the first diagnosis. The AI says it was their firewall. Try: Say: "Use the real cause found Oct 9."
- Offering a credit. The AI recommends a credit. Try: Say: "Do not offer a credit or admit liability."
- Wrong structure. The AI writes a narrative. Try: Say: "Headings Situation, Timeline, Ask; four timeline lines."
- Markdown. The AI uses bullets. Try: Say: "Plain text."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each line: "each line under 25 words."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each part instead, for example: "each line under 12 words."
