About this exercise
Write the CEO's email introducing the new chief of staff. Plain text, subject first, exactly 4 sentences in the body, under 90 words. Sentence 1 names her and her start date. Sentence 2 gives her background in one clause. Sentence 3 says what she will own. Sentence 4 tells the team how to reach her. Do not mention her salary, her previous employer's problems or the previous chief of staff leaving.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Old start date. The AI uses Dec 16. Try: Say: "She starts Monday Jan 6."
- Mentioning the predecessor. The AI thanks Mo for his service. Try: Say: "Don't mention the previous chief of staff."
- Sharing private info. The AI mentions salary or layoffs. Try: Say: "Leave out salary and the previous employer's layoffs."
- Markdown. The AI bolds her name. Try: Say: "Plain text."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each sentence: "each under 22 words."
- Vague scope. The AI says 'support the executive team'. Try: Say: "Sentence 3 lists what she owns."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each part instead, for example: "each line under 12 words."
