About this exercise
Write a short email to a board member, Dr. Okoro, before the meeting. Plain text, under 80 words. Subject line exactly: Subject: One request before Thursday. Body: two sentences of context from the notes, then the ask in a sentence starting "Could you". End with the exact line: Happy to talk any time before Wednesday. Do not include financial figures not in the notes.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Old budget. The AI uses $2.5M. Try: Say: "The budget is $2.2M."
- Including the forecast. The AI adds the $6M year-3 forecast. Try: Say: "Leave out the internal forecast."
- Wrong ask wording. The AI doesn't start with Could you. Try: Say: "The ask sentence starts with Could you."
- Wrong ending. The AI adds a sign-off. Try: Say: "Last line exactly: Happy to talk any time before Wednesday."
- Markdown. The AI bolds. Try: Say: "Plain text."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap it: "each sentence under 22 words."
