About this exercise

Summarize the trip expense for the CFO in a markdown table with columns Category, Amount, Policy limit, Flag. One row per category, comparing each category's trip total with its total limit (hotel $220 x 2 nights, meals $75 x 3 days). Flag is OVER if the amount exceeds the limit, otherwise OK. Then a line: Total: with the sum as a calculation. Use the final amounts and do not include amounts marked personal. Output only the table and the total line.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Old airfare. The AI uses $612. Try: Say: "Airfare is $548."
  • Including the spa. The AI adds $90. Try: Say: "Leave out personal amounts."
  • Wrong limits. The AI compares a nightly rate to the total. Try: Say: "Hotel limit for 2 nights is $440; meals limit for 3 days is $225."
  • Wrong total. The AI misadds. Try: Say: "Show the sum as a calculation."
  • Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap it: "short cells only."
  • Wrong columns. The AI changes the headers. Try: Say: "Columns: Category, Amount, Policy limit, Flag."
  • Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each part instead, for example: "each line under 12 words."
  • Adding bold and notes. The AI bolds numbers and adds notes around the table. Try: Say: "Plain text: only the table and the last line, no bold, no notes."
