- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Advanced
About this exercise
You're comparing three ways to handle 24 remaining months on an office lease for the CFO. Write a prompt for a markdown table with columns Option, Math and Net cost for Stay, Buy out and Sublease, followed by lines starting "Lowest net cost:", "Not included:" and "Confirm with counsel:". Facts only: no recommendation. Show each calculation. Under 150 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Using the full rent for sublease months. The AI forgets the subtenant pays 60%. Try: Add: "After month 6 we pay 40% of the rent."
- Recommending an option. The AI tells the CFO to buy out. Try: Add: "Facts only: no recommendation."
- Treating estimates as certain. The AI ignores that the buyout is unsigned. Try: Add: "Confirm with counsel: sublease consent and the unsigned buyout."
- Skipping rent until move-out. The AI counts the buyout as $120,000. Try: Add: "Buy out includes 3 months of rent until move-out."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and runs past word limits. Try: Ask for fewer words than the real cap and keep each part short.
What a strong prompt includes
- Names the columns
- Shows each calculation
- Asks for the three closing lines
- Bans a recommendation
- Caps length
