About this exercise

You're modeling a price increase for the CRO. Write a prompt for plain text with lines starting "SMB after increase:", "Enterprise after increase:", "Expected case:", "Downside case:" and "Read:". Increase each segment's MRR by its own percent first, then apply that case's churn to the new MRR. Compare each case total with today's $1,000,000. Show the math. The Read line states the two net changes in one sentence, with no recommendation. Under 140 words.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Applying churn before the increase. The AI takes churn from the old MRR. Try: Say: "Increase first, then apply churn to the new MRR."
  • Using sales' 0% churn. The AI uses the earlier assumption. Try: Add: "Use only the two cases; ignore the 0% note."
  • Recommending. The AI says to proceed with the increase. Try: Add: "The Read line states the two changes; no recommendation."
  • Missing the segment math. The AI blends segments into one percent. Try: Add: "Work each segment separately and show each equation."
  • Markdown extras. The AI adds bold labels, headings and a closing note. Try: Say: "Plain text, no bold. Output only the lines asked for."
  • Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and runs past word limits. Try: Ask for fewer words than the real cap and keep each part short.

What a strong prompt includes

  • Names the five lines
  • Orders the steps
  • Uses today's total
  • Bans a recommendation
  • Caps length
