About this exercise
Rewrite the welcome message in plain text, under 90 words, in a warm voice that sounds like a friendly coworker, not a form letter. First line: Welcome, Jordan! Keep every practical detail: day, time, place and who to ask for. No jargon like "onboarding cadence" and no exclamation marks except in the first line. Last line: See you Monday. HR reviews before sending.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Losing details. The AI drops ID or parking to sound friendlier. Try: Say: "Keep every practical detail: day, time, place, ID, parking, lunch, who to ask for."
- Still stiff. The AI keeps formal phrases. Try: Say: "Warm, plain, like a friendly coworker. No jargon."
- Excited tone. The AI adds exclamation marks everywhere. Try: Say: "No exclamation marks except in the first line."
- Own opening and closing. The AI invents a greeting. Try: Say: "First line Welcome, Jordan! and last line See you Monday."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each part instead, for example: "each line under 15 words."
- Markdown. The AI bolds words or adds headings. Try: Say: "Plain text, no bold, no headings."
