Make a quick accommodations card for a classroom aide
Practice: Saying who it's for. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
Your new paraprofessional needs a quick card for one student's 504 accommodations. Write exactly 4 lines labeled "Seat:", "Tests:", "Breaks:" and "Avoid:", in that order, each under 15 words, plain text, no bullets. Use the updated plan, use only the student's first name, and never mention a diagnosis or medical details. Write a prompt that gets you exactly that.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- No fixed shape. The AI writes a memo about the student with headings and background. Try: Be exact: "Exactly 4 lines: Seat:, Tests:, Breaks:, Avoid:. No bullets."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for "under 60 words" and it often lands well over. Try: Cap each part instead: "each line under 15 words."
- Using the old plan. The September plan comes first; the November changes come after. Try: Add: "Use the Nov 3 update for seating and test room."
- Sharing private details. The AI includes the diagnosis to explain the accommodations. Try: Add: "First name only. No diagnosis or medical details."
What a strong prompt includes
- Shows the 4 labels
- Uses the update
- Keeps it confidential
- Caps each line
- Asks for plain text
