Work out hours left per person after leave and flag overloads
- For Project managers
- You practice Catching mistakes and made-up facts
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Intermediate
About this exercise
Build a table for next week with the header Person | Capacity | Committed | Left | Flag, one row per person. Capacity is 30 hours minus 6 hours for each leave day, unless the notes give a different capacity. Left is Capacity minus Committed. Flag is Overloaded when Left is below zero, otherwise OK. Add a last line "Team hours left:" with the sum of the Left column, including negatives. Plain text, under 90 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Counting unapproved leave. The AI gives Ben two leave days. Try: Say: "Use approved leave days only."
- Ignoring Dee's capacity. The AI uses 30 for everyone. Try: Say: "Use the capacity in the notes where one is given."
- Wrong sum. The AI skips Left values or miscounts. Try: Say: "Sum the Left column, including negatives."
- Wrong table. The AI adds a notes column. Try: Say: "Exactly this header, four rows."
- Markdown. The AI bolds the flags. Try: Say: "Plain text."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each part instead, for example: "each line under 15 words."
