About this exercise

Write a thank-you message for the team channel after the launch, in plain text, under 90 words. Name all five contributors, each with the specific thing they did. Open with the date of the launch, and do not use the words "amazing" or "rockstar". End with the line: Take Friday afternoon off.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Leaving someone out. The AI thanks "the whole team" in a group. Try: Say: "Name all five people, each with what they did."
  • Generic praise. The AI says "great work" with no specifics. Try: Say: "Each name gets the specific thing they did."
  • Banned words. The AI calls the team amazing. Try: Say: "Do not use the words amazing or rockstar."
  • Missing the date or ending. The AI starts with Hi team. Try: Say: "Open with the launch date; end with the exact line."
  • Too long. The AI writes three paragraphs. Try: Say: "Under 65 words."
  • Markdown. The AI bolds names. Try: Say: "Plain text."
  • Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each part instead, for example: "each line under 15 words."
