Summarize a pulse survey for your director without over-reading it

  • Time about 5 minutes
  • Level Intermediate

About this exercise

Write a summary for your director, Kim, in exactly three lines starting with Headline:, Caution: and Ask:. Report results as counts like "4 of 6", never percentages. Each line is under 25 words. The Caution line must say how many people responded out of the team. The Ask line is a request for a 30-minute workload discussion at the next team meeting. Plain text.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Using percentages. The AI converts 4 of 6 into 67 percent. Try: Say: "Counts only, like 4 of 6, no percentages."
  • No caution. The AI presents six responses as the whole team. Try: Say: "Caution line: 6 of 9 responded."
  • Wrong ask. The AI invents an action plan. Try: Say: "Ask: a 30-minute workload discussion at the next team meeting."
  • Wrong labels. The AI uses its own headings. Try: Say: "Three lines starting Headline:, Caution:, Ask:."
  • Too long. The AI adds free-text quotes. Try: Say: "Each line under 25 words."
  • Markdown. The AI bolds labels. Try: Say: "Plain text."
  • Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each part instead, for example: "each line under 15 words."

What a strong prompt includes
