Find when your internet promo price ends and the new cost
- For College students
- You practice Keeping the AI to your sources
- Time about 5 minutes
About this exercise
Your apartment's internet bill has fine print about a promo. Get exactly 3 numbered lines in plain text, under 70 words: 1. the date the promo ends; 2. the new monthly total after it ends, with the addition shown; 3. how much more per month that is, with the subtraction shown. Split nothing with roommates yet and add no tips. Write a prompt that gets you exactly that.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Trusting the group chat. The AI repeats Jordan's $55 guess or mixes it with the bill. Try: Add: "Use only the bill's numbers."
- No math shown. The AI gives a new total without the pieces, so you can't check it. Try: Show it: "2. New monthly total: $70 + $10 + $3 = $[total]".
- Getting money-saving tips. The AI suggests buying a router or signing a price lock. Try: Add: "No tips, just the 3 lines."
- Wrong end date. The AI says the promo ends Dec 1 or gives no date. Try: Say: "Line 1: the date the promo ends."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for "under 70 words" and it often lands well over. Try: Cap each part: "each line under 16 words."
