Find what you must do to keep a scholarship
- For High school students
- You practice Keeping the AI to your sources
- Time about 5 minutes
About this exercise
You won a scholarship and want to know how to keep it. From the award letter, get exactly 4 numbered lines in plain text, under 70 words: 1. the amount per semester, using the corrected amount; 2. the GPA you must keep; 3. the credits you must take each semester; 4. the thank-you letter deadline. No advice. Write a prompt that gets you exactly that.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Missing the correction. The AI quotes $2,000 from the letter and misses the Nov 3 email. Try: Add: "Use the corrected $2,500 per semester."
- Getting a summary of the praise. The AI recaps the congratulations instead of the rules. Try: Say: "Only the 4 facts, one per line."
- Not naming the lines. The AI mixes requirements into a paragraph. Try: Show it: "1. Per semester: $[amount] 2. GPA: [number] ...".
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for "under 70 words" and it often lands well over. Try: Cap each part: "each line under 12 words."
What a strong prompt includes
- Uses the correction
- Names each fact
- Rules out advice
- Sets the number of lines
- Sets a word limit
