Turn your notes on a sick child into a visit timeline
- For Parents and households
- You practice Keeping the AI to your sources
- Time about 5 minutes
About this exercise
Your son has been sick on and off and you have a 15-minute pediatrician visit. From your phone notes, get exactly 4 numbered dated lines, oldest first, like "1. Nov 1: fever 101.4, pulling left ear", using your corrected temperature. Then one line starting "Ask Dr. Patel:" with 2 questions, one about the leftover medicine. Don't guess what's wrong. Under 100 words, plain text. Write a prompt that gets you exactly that.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Keeping the notes' order. The AI copies your notes as written, so the timeline jumps around. Try: Say: "Oldest first."
- Missing the correction. The AI uses 100.8 from the note and skips the correction. Try: Add: "Nov 4 was 101.8, per my correction."
- Letting the AI guess. The AI says it sounds like an ear infection or suggests using the leftover medicine. Try: Add: "Don't guess what's wrong. No medicine advice."
- No questions. The AI stops at the timeline. Try: Add: "Last line: Ask Dr. Patel: 2 questions, one about the leftover medicine."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for "under 100 words" and it often lands well over. Try: Cap each part: "each dated line under 14 words."
What a strong prompt includes

- Uses the correction
