Find what it costs to leave a preschool contract
- For Parents and households
- You practice Keeping the AI to your sources
- Time about 5 minutes
About this exercise
You might move your daughter to a different preschool in January. From the enrollment contract, get exactly 4 numbered lines in plain text, under 80 words: 1. how much notice you must give and how; 2. the last day to give notice for a January 1 withdrawal; 3. any fee or deposit you'd lose, with the amount; 4. "This isn't legal advice." Use the updated policy. Write a prompt that gets you exactly that.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Missing the policy update. The AI uses the contract's 30 days and gives a December deadline. Try: Add: "Use the Oct 15 update: 45 days' notice."
- No date math. The AI says "45 days" without the actual date. Try: Add: "Line 2: January 1 minus 45 days = [date]."
- Listing every fee. The AI includes the supply fee you already paid and the late fee. Try: Add: "Line 3: only what I'd lose by leaving."
- Repeating rumors. The AI echoes that notice isn't enforced. Try: Add: "Use only the contract. Line 4: This isn't legal advice."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for "under 80 words" and it often lands well over. Try: Cap each part: "each line under 16 words."
What a strong prompt includes
- Uses the update
- Asks for the date math
- Asks what you'd lose
- Adds the disclaimer
