Write a product page blurb that adds no features

Practice: Keeping the AI to your sources. About 5 minutes.

About this exercise

You're writing the product page blurb for the Halden 28 daypack from the final spec sheet. Describe only what ships in the final production version, so leave out anything that was cut and anything the spec says not to claim. Keep it under 60 words, plain text, with no exclamation marks and no hype words like "ultimate" or "best". End with this exact spec line as the last line: 28 L | 1.9 lb | 2-year warranty. Write a prompt that gets that blurb.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Not saying which features count. The AI lists every feature on the page, including the cut rain cover, and may call the pack waterproof. Try: Add: "Use only v3 final-production features. No rain cover, no hydration sleeve, never say waterproof."
  • Leaving the ending to chance. AI ends with a call to action like "Shop now" instead of the spec line your page template needs. Try: Add: "End with this exact last line: 28 L | 1.9 lb | 2-year warranty"
  • Getting hype by default. Product copy pulls the AI toward "the ultimate pack!" and other big words. Try: Add: "No exclamation marks, no words like ultimate or best."
  • Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for "under 60 words" and it often lands well over. Try: Cap each part: "3 sentences, each under 14 words, then the spec line."
  • Getting markdown in a product page field. AI adds a bold product name or bullet headings that show up as stray symbols in the page editor. Try: Add: "Plain text, no bold, no headings."

What a strong prompt includes

  • Keeps it to the final spec
  • Sets the last line
  • Rules out hype
  • Sets a word limit
  • Asks for plain text
