Write SEO meta descriptions that keep each boot's claims straight
Practice: Keeping the AI to your sources. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
You run the website for Cedar Pass Outfitters and need meta descriptions for 3 boot pages so Google shows them in full. Write exactly 3 numbered descriptions, one per boot, each one sentence under 25 words that includes that page's target keyword word for word. Only the boot the spec sheet calls waterproof may be called waterproof, and use no superlatives like best or #1. Plain text, only the list.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Not giving the keyword rule. The AI paraphrases the keyword, so the exact search phrase never appears. Try: Add: "Use each page's target keyword word for word."
- Following the owner's wish. Marcy asks to call all three waterproof, and the AI tends to go along. Try: Add: "Only the Ridgeline is waterproof. The Trailhead is water-resistant."
- No length limit. AI writes two-sentence blurbs that Google cuts off, often with "best" in them. Try: Add: "One sentence under 20 words each. No best or #1."
- Getting a formatted report. The AI adds bold product names, character counts and tips. Try: Add: "Exactly 3 numbered lines, plain text, nothing else."
