Write a 5K promo email with the corrected start time

Practice: Keeping the AI to your sources. About 5 minutes.

About this exercise

You're promoting the Riverbend Animal Shelter's Paws & Pace 5K to past donors by email. Write the email body only, under 90 words, with the date, start time and place in the first sentence. Use the corrected start time, say that 70% of fees fund the shelter (not "all proceeds"), end with the exact line "Register at pawsandpace.org", and use plain text.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Missing the correction. The flyer's 8:00am comes first, and the AI uses it. Try: Add: "The race starts at 9:00am, not 8:00."
  • Overstating the cause. "All proceeds go to the animals" is the AI's default charity line. Try: Add: "Say 70% of fees fund the shelter. Never all proceeds."
  • Not setting the ending. The AI ends with a long sign-off and a volunteer ask. Try: Add: "End with: Register at pawsandpace.org. Skip volunteers."
  • Trusting the AI to count words. Promo emails come back at 150+ words with bold headers. Try: Cap the parts: "4 sentences under 14 words each, then the register line."
  • Getting formatting. The AI bolds the date and adds a subject line and headings. Try: Add: "Body only, plain text."
