Write a positioning statement backed by your own research
Practice: Keeping the AI to your sources. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
You own Nook & Desk, a coworking space, and need a positioning statement for your website brief. Write it in exactly 2 sentences using the template For [target] who [need], Nook & Desk is the [category] that [benefit]. Unlike [alternative], we [difference]. Aim it at the group your member research points to, don't name any competitor, and build the difference on a fact from the notes, not on price. Plain text, nothing else.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Not giving the template. The AI writes a mission-style paragraph or several options. Try: Paste the template and say "exactly 2 sentences".
- Aiming at everyone. AI picks the broadest audience, as Jordan wanted. Try: Add: "Target the group the survey points to: remote-working parents of young kids."
- Naming the rival or the price. AI uses the most concrete comparison it sees: Hive Desk, and cheaper. Try: Add: "Don't name competitors. No price claims; we're not cheaper."
- Getting extras. The AI adds a heading and a note on why the statement works. Try: Add: "Output only the 2 sentences, plain text."
