Write funder report highlights that compare results to goals
Practice: Keeping the AI to your sources. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
You're writing the highlights for your year-end report to the Pell Family Foundation, which funded only your adult literacy program. Write exactly 3 numbered lines, each one outcome in the shape "Result vs. goal of X", under 16 words. Use only adult literacy numbers (not the youth program), report the shortfall honestly, and reply with only the plain-text list.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Mixing in other programs. The youth numbers are impressive, so the AI adds them. Try: Add: "Only adult literacy. Skip the youth homework club."
- Hiding the miss. The AI leaves out the GED shortfall or spins it. Try: Add: "Report the GED shortfall honestly: 19 vs. goal of 25."
- No goal comparison. The AI lists results without the goals. Try: Show the shape: "Result vs. goal of X."
- Getting a formatted report. The AI writes a narrative with bold headings. Try: Add: "Exactly 3 numbered lines, plain text."
What a strong prompt includes
- Sets the comparison shape
- Keeps to the funded program
- Reports the miss
- Says how many
- Asks for only the list
