Write a how-it-works section that matches the real signup flow
Practice: Keeping the AI to your sources. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
You're the PM for Notecove, a shared notes app for book clubs, writing the "How it works" section of the landing page. Write exactly 3 numbered steps in the shape Short verb phrase: one sentence, each under 16 words, matching the current signup flow. Don't mention creating an account first (no longer required), and reply with only the plain-text list.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Copying the old flow. The old 3 steps are complete and come first. Try: Add: "Use the new flow shipped Mar 4."
- Leaving out the best feature. The AI summarizes step 3 without spoiler hiding. Try: Add: "Step 3 includes spoilers hidden until you reach that chapter."
- Mentioning beta work. Kindle import sounds useful, so the AI adds it. Try: Add: "Don't mention Kindle import."
- No step shape. The AI writes a heading with paragraphs. Try: Show it: "Start a club: one sentence."
What a strong prompt includes
- Uses the new flow
- Includes spoiler hiding
- Skips beta work
- Sets the step shape
- Asks for only the list
