Plan an onboarding email schedule around shipped features
Practice: Keeping the AI to your sources. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
You're the PM for Stitchly, a scheduling app for hair salons, planning the new-customer onboarding emails. Write exactly 5 numbered lines in the shape Day N - Subject - feature it teaches, using the days in your notes and only features that are live. Subjects all lowercase and under 8 words, and reply with only the plain-text list.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Inventing the schedule. The AI picks its own days, like 1, 3, 7. Try: Add: "Use days 0, 2, 5, 9, 14."
- Teaching beta features. Inventory tracking sounds useful, so the AI includes it. Try: Add: "Only live features. No inventory or payroll."
- Ignoring order. The AI starts with the flashiest feature, not the booking page. Try: Add: "Booking page first, reminders second."
- Ignoring the subject style. The AI writes Title Case subjects with emojis. Try: Add: "Subjects lowercase, under 5 words, no emojis or !."
- Writing full emails. The AI drafts each email with bold headers. Try: Add: "Exactly 5 numbered lines, plain text."
What a strong prompt includes
- Uses the send days
- Limits to live features
- Sets the order
- Sets the subject style
- Asks for only the list
