Write host-read ad talking points with a disclosure first

Practice: Keeping the AI to your sources. About 5 minutes.

About this exercise

You host a podcast about small-space gardening, and Terrace Tools is sponsoring an episode. Write at most 4 bullets of talking points, each under 16 words: the first discloses the sponsorship, then approved claims only, and the last gives the promo URL. Don't say you've used the tools (you haven't yet), and use plain text with no heading.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Forgetting the disclosure. The AI jumps straight into the pitch. Try: Add: "First bullet: This episode is sponsored by Terrace Tools."
  • Using the dead link. Both links are in the notes. Try: Add: "Last bullet: 15% off at terracetools.com/balcony."
  • Unapproved claims. Rust-proof and made in USA are easy selling points. Try: Add: "Never rust-proof or made in USA."
  • Faking a personal endorsement. Host reads in the AI's training say "I use these every day". Try: Add: "Don't say I've used or love them."
  • Too many bullets. The AI writes a full script with bold sections. Try: Add: "At most 4 bullets, plain text, no heading."

What a strong prompt includes

  • Starts with the disclosure
  • Uses the right link
  • Rules out unapproved claims
  • Rules out personal use
  • Limits the bullets
