Shortlist product names that pass every check
Practice: Keeping the AI to your sources. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
You're narrowing names for a new reusable water bottle at Crestline Goods. From the candidates in your notes, list exactly 3 numbered names that pass all three checks (no trademark conflict, .com available, under 3 syllables), each in the shape Name - why it passed, under 14 words. Don't invent new names, and reply with only the plain-text list.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Picking favorites. The AI picks names that sound best, like Torrent, ignoring the checks. Try: Add: "Only names passing all three checks."
- Misreading a rule. "Under 3 syllables" means Canteena fails, and the AI often counts it in. Try: Add: "Under 3 means 1 or 2 syllables."
- Brainstorming new names. The AI adds its own ideas to be helpful. Try: Add: "Only names from the research. Don't invent new ones."
- Getting a table. The AI rebuilds the table with bold headers. Try: Add: "Exactly 3 numbered lines, plain text."
What a strong prompt includes
- Says all checks must pass
- Clarifies the syllable rule
- Rules out new names
- Sets the line shape
- Asks for only the list
