Write a market snapshot from the MLS report without predictions
Practice: Keeping the AI to your sources. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
You're an agent writing the "Market snapshot" section of your monthly email to past clients. Write at most 3 bullets, each under 18 words, each with one number from the October MLS report and its change from last October. Use the corrected median price, make no predictions about where prices are going, and use plain text with no heading.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Missing the correction. The first median price in the report is wrong, and the AI uses it. Try: Add: "Median is $481,000 after the Nov 5 correction."
- Adding a forecast. Market updates in the AI's training end with "great time to buy". Try: Add: "Facts only. No predictions or advice."
- No comparison. The AI gives this month's numbers without last year's. Try: Add: "Each bullet compares with last October."
- Too many bullets. The AI lists every number, plus condos, under a bold heading. Try: Add: "At most 3 bullets, plain text, no heading."
What a strong prompt includes
- Limits the bullets
- Uses the corrected median
- Compares with last year
- Rules out predictions
- Asks for plain text
