Write a newsletter what's-new section with only shipped features
Practice: Keeping the AI to your sources. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
You're the PM writing the "What's new" section of Tasklark's monthly customer newsletter. Write at most 3 bullets, each starting with the feature name followed by a colon and each under 20 words. Include only features that are live for all customers now, not the one rolled back or the one in beta. Plain text, no heading or intro.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Asking for "a what's new section". The AI writes paragraphs with a heading and a sign-off. Try: Set the shape: "At most 3 bullets, each Feature name: one sentence."
- Announcing everything. Dark mode and AI summaries are exciting, so the AI includes them. Try: Add: "Only features live for everyone. No dark mode, no AI summaries."
- Publishing internal numbers. The 30% speedup is a nice stat, and the AI uses it. Try: Add: "Skip the server move and any speed numbers."
- Getting formatting. The AI bolds feature names and adds a heading. Try: Add: "Plain text, no bold, no heading."
What a strong prompt includes

- Sets the bullet shape
