Write a volunteer call-out post with the right shifts
Practice: Keeping the AI to your sources. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
You're recruiting volunteers for the Maplewood Community Pantry's holiday distribution on Facebook. Write a post under 70 words whose first sentence asks for the exact number of volunteers still needed, lists the corrected shift times, and ends with the exact line "Sign up: maplewoodpantry.org/help". No emojis and no promises like "easy" or "only takes an hour". Plain text.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Not saying what goes first. The AI opens with holiday warmth and buries the ask. Try: Add: "First sentence: we still need 12 volunteers."
- Using the draft shifts. The draft times come first in the notes. Try: Add: "Shifts are 8-11am and 11am-2pm."
- Making it sound easy. Volunteer posts in the AI's training promise it's easy and fun. Try: Add: "Don't say easy or only an hour. No emojis."
- Trusting the AI to count words. Posts come back at 120 words with emoji bullets. Try: Cap it: "4 sentences under 12 words each, then the sign-up line."
- Getting formatting. The AI bolds the date and shift times. Try: Add: "Plain text, no bold."
