Write a three-sentence pitch to a cafe using one real detail
- For Freelancers and creators

- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Beginner
About this exercise
You're a freelance newsletter writer pitching Juniper Cafe. Write a prompt for a short email: a line starting "Subject:" of 6 words or fewer, then exactly 3 sentences under 70 words, referring to one specific detail from the cafe's website notes and ending with a yes-or-no question. Don't claim results or past clients you don't have. Plain text, signed "Ada Lindqvist".
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Claiming results. Pitch emails default to 'grow your sales'. Try: Say: "Don't claim results or past clients."
- Generic opening. The AI writes a pitch that could go to any cafe. Try: Say: "Refer to one specific detail from the notes."
- Wrong structure. The AI writes long paragraphs and a vague ask. Try: Say: "Exactly 3 sentences ending with a yes-or-no question."
- Letting markdown through. AI adds bold text and headings by default. Try: Add: "Plain text only, no bold, no headings."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and often runs past a word limit. Try: Cap each part (for example "each line under 15 words") so the total lands well under the limit.
What a strong prompt includes
- Sets structure
- Requires a specific detail
- Bans result claims
- Gives the signature
- Caps length
