Write a story headline, subhead and pull quote from approvals
- For Marketing and content
- You practice Keeping the AI to your sources
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Beginner
About this exercise
Marlow Dental approved parts of their story about the Bookwise booking tool. Write a prompt for exactly three plain-text lines: "Headline:" (10 words or fewer, no quotation marks), "Subhead:" (one sentence under 20 words using the approved result) and "Pull quote:" (the approved quote, copied word for word in quotation marks, with the speaker's name). Use nothing that isn't approved. Under 60 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Reusing the old headline. The AI echoes 'slashes no-shows' because it sounds strong. Try: Say: "Use only approved items; no claims about no-shows or savings."
- Changing the quote. The AI tidies the quote or merges it. Try: Say: "Copy the approved quote word for word."
- Missing the labeled lines. The AI writes a paragraph. Try: Name the three labels.
- Letting markdown through. AI adds bold text and headings by default. Try: Add: "Plain text only, no bold, no headings."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and often runs past a word limit. Try: Cap each part (for example "each line under 15 words") so the total lands well under the limit.
What a strong prompt includes
- Names the three labels
- Requires the exact quote
- Limits to approvals
- Caps headline and subhead
- Asks for plain text
