About this exercise

You are adding alt text to five images on the Greenhouse Goods product page. Write a prompt that returns one CSV code block with the header image_id,alt and one row per image. Each alt is 100 characters or fewer, describes what's shown including its color, and doesn't start with "image of" or "picture of". Decorative images get an empty alt written as two double quotes. No words outside the block except one short sentence.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Describing the decorative line. The AI writes alt for every image. Try: Say: "Decorative images get an empty alt written as two double quotes."
  • Starting with 'Image of'. Screen readers already announce an image. Try: Ban 'image of' and 'picture of'.
  • Skipping the banner text. The AI describes the banner's look but not its words. Try: Say: "For banners, include the text shown."
  • Extra CSV lines. The AI adds notes rows. Try: Say: "Header plus 5 rows; one short sentence outside the block."
