Map each keyword to the one page already ranking best for it
- For Marketing and content
- You practice Asking for a format you can use
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Intermediate
About this exercise
You're fixing keyword cannibalization on the Rotaly site, where two pages sometimes compete for one keyword. Write a prompt for a markdown table with exactly 6 rows and columns Keyword | Page | Reason, where each keyword goes to the one page that ranks best for it (lowest position number). Reason is 6 words or fewer. Sort the rows by Page A to Z, then by Keyword A to Z. Output only the table.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Picking the highest number. The AI reads a bigger position number as better. Try: Say: "Lowest position number is best."
- Skipping the sort. The AI keeps the export order. Try: Say: "Sort by Page A to Z, then Keyword A to Z."
- Adding the rota maker idea. The AI adds a row for a keyword we don't rank for. Try: Say: "Exactly 6 rows, one per keyword in the export."
- Long reasons. The AI explains each pick in a sentence. Try: Say: "Reason 6 words or fewer."
- Letting markdown through. AI adds bold text and headings by default. Try: Add: "Plain text only, no bold, no headings."
What a strong prompt includes
- Names the columns
- Defines the pick rule
- Asks for the sort
- Fixes the row count
- Caps reasons
