Write four landing page FAQ answers that stay inside the spec

  • For Small business owners
  • You practice Keeping the AI to your sources
  • Time about 5 minutes
  • Level Beginner

About this exercise

You write the landing page for Ledgerly, a bookkeeping app for small shops. Write a prompt for a FAQ with exactly four questions, in this order: price, offline use, file limits, free trial. Format each as a "Q:" line and an "A:" line, each answer under 25 words, plain text. Answer only from the spec, and if something isn't available yet, say it isn't available yet.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Repeating the wishlist. The AI picks up 'works offline' and 'unlimited' from the wishlist as if they were facts. Try: Add: "Answer only from the spec; if a feature isn't built yet, say it isn't available yet."
  • Skipping the structure. The AI writes headings and long paragraphs instead of Q:/A: pairs. Try: Show the format: "Q: ..." then "A: ...", four times, in the order you list.
  • Letting markdown through. AI adds bold text and headings by default. Try: Add: "Plain text only, no bold, no headings."
  • Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and often runs past a word limit. Try: Cap each part (for example "each line under 15 words") so the total lands well under the limit.

What a strong prompt includes

  • Lists the four topics in order
  • Shows the Q/A format
  • Says to stay inside the spec
  • Handles unbuilt features
  • Caps answer length
