About this exercise

You're planning a nurture sequence for people who downloaded the Fernhill Budget Template. Write a prompt for a markdown table with exactly 4 rows and the columns Day | Goal | Subject | Stop if. Use the days from the plan, except that emails only go out on Tuesdays and Thursdays (move a Sunday send to the next Tuesday) and you drop the cancelled email; one subject under 7 words per row, and the Stop if column must say 'Bought' on every row. Plain text apart from the table, and under 110 words in total.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Including the cancelled email. The AI lists all five planned emails. Try: Add: "Exactly 4 rows; leave out the cancelled Day 14 email."
  • Keeping Day 5 as is. The AI misses the Tuesday and Thursday rule. Try: Say: "Day 5 falls on a Sunday, so move it to Day 7."
  • Salesy subjects. The AI writes urgent, discount-style subjects. Try: Say: "No discount or last-chance wording; each subject under 7 words."
  • Skipping the stop column. The AI writes a plain schedule. Try: Name the four columns and say 'Stop if' is 'Bought' on every row.
  • Letting markdown through. AI adds bold text and headings by default. Try: Add: "Plain text only, no bold, no headings."
  • Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and often runs past a word limit. Try: Cap each part (for example "each line under 15 words") so the total lands well under the limit.

What a strong prompt includes

  • Names the columns
  • Fixes the row count
  • Handles the moved and cancelled emails
  • Caps subjects
  • Fills the stop column
