- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Intermediate
About this exercise
The Pinecrest webinar is on Wed, Dec 9, 2026. Write a prompt for a checklist of exactly 5 lines in the form "- [ ] Mon DD: task", oldest date first, using the offsets in the plan counted back from Dec 9. Nothing is sent on a weekend, so if a date lands on a Saturday or Sunday use the Friday before. Plain text, under 70 words, no intro.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Leaving the Sunday date. The AI computes Dec 6 and doesn't apply the weekend rule. Try: Say: "If a date falls on a weekend, use the Friday before."
- Miscounting back. The AI counts back from the wrong day. Try: Say: "Count back from Dec 9: 14 days is Nov 25."
- Wrong format or order. The AI writes a table or a bulleted list of dates. Try: Show: "- [ ] Nov 25: task", oldest first.
- Adding the podcast. The AI adds the unused idea. Try: Say: "Only the five steps in the plan."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and often runs past a word limit. Try: Cap each part (for example "each line under 15 words") so the total lands well under the limit.
What a strong prompt includes
- Gives the line format
- Counts back from the event
- States the weekend rule
- Sorts oldest first
- Caps lines
