Pack for a museum photo shoot that follows the venue's rules
Practice: Keeping the AI to your sources. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
You're a freelance photographer shooting a museum's new exhibit for their website. You want a gear list of exactly 7 numbered items, each with a quantity, under 50 words, plain text. Follow the museum's rules email (one item you usually bring is banned), add what the email requires, and include only gear from your notes, no generic tips. Write a prompt that gets you exactly that.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Missing the rules email. Flashes are in your usual kit, and the AI keeps them. Try: Add: "Follow the museum email: no flash, rubber tripod feet, clear bag."
- Adding generic gear. The AI adds reflectors and lighting kits. Try: Add: "Only gear from my notes and the email."
- Leaving out quantities. The AI lists gear without numbers. Try: Add: "Give a quantity for every item."
- Letting the AI pick the layout. The AI makes categories with bold headings. Try: Be exact: "Exactly 7 numbered items, plain text."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for "under 50 words" and it often lands well over. Try: Cap each part instead: "each line under 8 words."
What a strong prompt includes
- Says how many items
- Follows the rules email
- Stays with the notes
- Asks for quantities
- Sets a word limit
