Recap a day-shift staff meeting for night-shift nurses
Practice: Saying who it's for. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
Your unit held its monthly staff meeting during the day, and the night shift nurses couldn't come. You want a recap for their group chat of at most 3 sentences, plain text, with the item that has the soonest deadline first. Use the corrected date for the competency fair, and leave out items that only affect day shift. Write a prompt that gets you exactly that.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Following the meeting order. The AI starts with the fair description instead of the soonest deadline. Try: Add: "Start with the soonest deadline."
- Missing the correction. Jan 21-22 is in the notes; the fix came by email. Try: Add: "The fair is Jan 28-29 (corrected)."
- Forgetting who reads it. The AI includes day-shift huddle changes. Try: Add: "For night shift. Skip day-shift-only items."
- Asking for a summary. The AI writes bullets with headings. Try: Be exact: "At most 3 sentences, plain text."
What a strong prompt includes
- Says who reads it
- Uses the correction
- Puts soonest first
- Skips day-only items
- Limits the sentences
