Plan a group documentary project with the new due date
Practice: Keeping the AI to your sources. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
Your US History group is making a 5-minute documentary, and you're posting the plan in the group chat. You want exactly 5 numbered lines in date order, each written as date - milestone - who, under 70 words, plain text. Your teacher moved the final due date earlier, so every milestone must fit before the new date, and leave out the topic the group rejected. Write a prompt that gets you exactly that.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Using the old plan. The first plan has clean dates, and the AI may copy them even though they now miss the deadline. Try: Add: "The new due date is Dec 5. Use the dates we agreed on after the change."
- Not giving the line shape. The AI writes a paragraph or table and drops who owns each step. Try: Add: "Write each line as date - milestone - who."
- Including the extras. The AI keeps the birthday, quiz and rejected topic to be thorough. Try: Add: "Only the project milestones."
- Letting the AI pick the layout. The AI adds headings and bold names that look messy in a group chat. Try: Be exact: "Exactly 5 numbered lines, plain text."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for "under 70 words" and it often lands well over. Try: Cap each part instead: "each line under 9 words."
What a strong prompt includes
- Says how many lines
- Gives the new due date
- Shows the line shape
- Keeps to the project
- Sets a word limit
