Write the office holiday closure post with the corrected dates
Practice: Keeping the AI to your sources. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
Facilities sent a long email about the building's holiday closure, and you're posting it in the all-staff channel. You want at most 3 sentences, plain text, with the closure dates first. Use the corrected reopening date, and leave out the building engineer details. Write a prompt that gets you exactly that.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Missing the update. Monday Jan 5 is in the first paragraph. Try: Add: "Use the updated reopening date: Tuesday Jan 6."
- Including engineer details. The AI lists the building work to be complete. Try: Add: "Skip the engineering work."
- Dropping the to-dos. The AI mentions the dates but not what staff must do. Try: Add: "Include the fridge and unplug reminders."
- Asking for a summary. The AI writes bullets with headings. Try: Be exact: "At most 3 sentences, plain text."
What a strong prompt includes
- Uses the update
- Puts dates first
- Skips engineer details
- Limits the sentences
