Post a Slack recap without the notetaker's invented owner
- For Managers and team leads
- You practice Catching mistakes and made-up facts
- Time about 5 minutes
About this exercise
Turn the notetaker summary into a Slack recap for your team. Line 1 starts with 'Decided:' and states the decision. Then exactly 3 numbered actions as '@name - task - day'. Only use a name if that person agreed in the transcript; otherwise write @owner-needed. Plain text, under 70 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Trusting the notetaker's owner. The notetaker gave forklift training to Bea, and the AI keeps it. Try: Add: "Only name someone who agreed in the transcript; otherwise write @owner-needed."
- No decision up top. The AI starts with 'Hi team!' and a summary of the chat. Try: Add: "Line 1 starts with 'Decided:'."
- Messy action format. The AI writes full sentences that are hard to scan in Slack. Try: Show it: "1. @Carlos - post shift schedule - Friday"
- Markdown in Slack. The AI uses headings and bold that look odd once pasted. Try: Add: "Plain text, no bold."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting words, so a total word cap usually lands over. Try: Cap each line: "each line under 10 words."
What a strong prompt includes
- Checks owners in the transcript
- Handles missing owners
- Leads with the decision
- Shows the action format
- Caps the length
