Rebuild a notetaker's action items from the transcript
- For Product managers
- You practice Catching mistakes and made-up facts
- Time about 5 minutes
About this exercise
Your AI notetaker's action items for sprint planning are wrong in places. Using the transcript as the only source, write exactly 4 numbered action items as 'Owner - task - due', then an unnumbered line starting "Removed:" naming any notetaker item nobody agreed to. Plain text, under 90 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Copying the notetaker. Asked to clean up the list, the AI keeps the swapped owners. Try: Add: "The transcript is the only source. Check every owner against it."
- Keeping the invented item. The notetaker gave release notes to Sam, and the AI keeps it. Try: Add: "Drop any item nobody agreed to."
- Silently dropping it. The AI removes an item but doesn't tell you, so nobody notices. Try: Add: "End with 'Removed:' naming anything you dropped."
- Letting the AI pick the layout. The AI makes a markdown table with status columns. Try: Show it: "1. Priya - login timeout bug - Wednesday". Plain text.
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting words, so a total word cap usually lands over. Try: Cap each line: "each line under 10 words."
What a strong prompt includes
- Uses the transcript as the source
- Shows the line shape
- Drops items nobody agreed to
- Asks for a removed line
- Caps the length
