Confirm a supplier deal by email, fixing the notetaker
- For Small business owners
- You practice Catching mistakes and made-up facts
- Time about 5 minutes
About this exercise
Email your flour supplier to confirm what you agreed on the call. Start with 'Subject:', then exactly 3 numbered confirmations labeled Price, Delivery and Order, then the exact line 'Please reply to confirm by Friday.', and sign off as Nadia. The notetaker got the delivery day wrong and missed the price lock, so use the transcript. Plain text, under 100 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Trusting the notetaker's day. The summary says Monday, and the AI confirms the wrong day. Try: Add: "Delivery is Tuesdays, per the transcript."
- Missing the price lock. The notetaker left it out, so the AI does too. Try: Add: "Confirm the $38 price is locked through June 30."
- No clear ask. The AI ends with 'Let me know if you have questions' and a placeholder signature. Try: Add: "End with 'Please reply to confirm by Friday.' and sign off as Nadia."
- Markdown email. The AI bolds labels and adds headings. Try: Add: "Plain text, 3 numbered confirmations."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting words, so a total word cap usually lands over. Try: Cap each part: "each confirmation under 12 words."
What a strong prompt includes
- Uses the transcript
- Confirms the price lock
- Fixes the delivery day
- Asks for a subject line
- Caps the length
