Write a rep one-pager on a new feature without overpromising
- For Sales and customer success
- You practice Keeping the AI to your sources
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Beginner
About this exercise
Product shipped a release and reps need a one-pager before calls tomorrow. Use exactly these four headings in this order: What changed, Who it's for, What to say, What not to say. Under "What not to say", tell reps not to promise any date for the audit log feature, because it's still in beta with no release date. Use only facts from the release notes, under 180 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- No set headings. The AI invents its own sections like Overview, Benefits and FAQ. Try: Add: "Use exactly these headings in order: What changed, Who it's for, What to say, What not to say."
- Selling the beta. The AI lists every feature, including the beta, as if reps can sell it now. Try: Add: "Under What not to say: don't promise any date for audit log export, it's beta."
- Quoting a rough test as fact. The AI loves a big number like "10x faster" and puts it in the talk track. Try: Add: "Use only facts from the release notes. No speed numbers."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. A one-pager request often comes back at 400 words. Try: Cap each section: "each section 2-3 bullets, each under 12 words."
What a strong prompt includes
- Names the headings
- Handles the beta
- Stays grounded
- Says who it's for
- Sets a length
